The Santa Clara-a-Nova Monastery was built up in 1649 to substitute the primitive Santa-Clara-a-Velha, which was just right then by the Mondego River.
This Baroque building is flanked by turrets.
In the main retable of the church is exhibited a silver and crystal vase (17th century) with the adored body of the Queen Saint Elizabeth; while in the side naves are shown tiles panels allusive to her life.
On the low choir, it is located a stone statue of the city’s patron, work by the master Pêro, who made it in 1330.
