The Igreja do Carmo Church of Coimbra was built in 1597, and its adjacent cluster, in 1600. This temple follows the Renaissance Cimbrians 16th century models
The sacristy has a Christ’s disposition of the tomb, work by Jean de Rouen. Inside, it also exhibits 17th century tiles made in Lisbon, and a Mannerist retable of the end of the 16th century which shows paintings of Simão Rodrigues and Domingos Vieira Serrão.
The church was part of the Colégio do Carmo School, but in the 19th century, the space of the school was given up to the Terciarios Order, where it currently stays.
