The Museu da Pedra (Stone Museum), located in the town of Cantanhede, in the Coímbra District, does an excellent work in getting to know the sculpture works of the different churches, convents and palaces of the country.
The museum is formed by archaeological pieces collected in the prehistoric and Roman sites of Cantanhede, religious ornamentations and sculpture from churches and shrines all over the city, as well as tools used in their elaboration.
The museum also counts with a centre for temporary expositions, which usually hosts important exhibitions about contemporary sculptoric production.
