The Igreja do Carmo church is one of the most beautiful buildings in Porto. It’s located near the Torre dos Clérigos Tower and the Igreja das Carmelitas Church.
It dates back to 1756 and has a side façade with one of the widest and most exquisite samples of tiling in the whole city. This tiles panel was made in 1912 by Silvestre Silvestri and illustrates the legend of the foundation of the Carmelites Order.
In the interior of the church you can observe beautiful golden altarpieces dating back to the 18th century, made by Franciso Pereira Campanha. It also stand out the appealing ceiling and the major altar.
