The Palácio da Bolsa Palace, considered National Monument, is a Neoclassical building built in 1842, even though it wasn’t inaugurated until a century later. This place honors the merchants of the city.
This is an interesting monument, and even though it has a higher price when compared to others in this city, guided tours are offered on it. Generally they are truly interesting and will allow you to discover tons of information about the place and its history and context.
In the hallway you’ll find the Patio das Nações, where the stock market used to be held, with a spectacular crystal ceiling.
All the other rooms might be also visited during the guided tours.
Also stands out the Ball Room known as the Arabian Room, which has clay walls ornamented with complex Arabian drawings and complemented with 18 kilograms of gold.
In its interior you’ll find a restaurant and a fine wine bar.
