Praia do Martinhal Beach, located in the east of Sagres, is a beach of calmed waters highly recommended for windsurfing due its persistent north winds; and for diving, where you will have the chance to visit several limestone islets. It is well-known for its rocky protrusions and underwater caves located along the whole beach.
It is an especially sandy beach, with high dunes in the centre and swampy vegetation extending inland.
Towards the east of the beach are located the ruins of a Roman pottery centre.
In the East of the beach, you will find the Praia dos Remolinhos beach, set deep among cliffs and south-facing. It is a truly desert beach without facilities to reach from a pedestrian trail.
