The Mosteiro de Flor da Rosa (Flor da Rosa monastery-fortress) was built in 1356 by prior Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira, father of Nuno Álvares Pereira, to become part of the Order of Malta.
The monastery, which conforms a compacted and fortified complex with tall battlemented walls, is nowadays house to a magnificent Pousada.
To the right, it still preserves its church, which has been excellently restored. It stands out because of its simple lines. In the centre, there is small robust but elegant cloister, with late-Gothic canyon vaults.
The refectory has a beautiful vault sustained by three Solomonic columns.
