The Igreja de São João Evangelista Church, also well-known as Igreja dos Lóios Church, is located next to the Palace of Duques de Cadaval, just on the right of the Convent of Lóios, in Évora, Portugal. It was founded in 1485 by Rodrigo Afonso de Melo, Earl of Olivença and first Governor of the Portuguese Tangier. Currently, very well preserved, it still belongs to Cadaval Dukes.
This temple has a complex Gothic facade and a nave sheathed by handmade painted tiles dating back to 1711. They were painted by António de Oliveira Bernades, one of the best tilers in Portugal.
A deep Moorish Cistern and an ossuary filled with monks bones are found behind the grilles located on the floor of the convent. The sacristy houses much older tiles.
