Located in the Northwest of the Igreja de São João Church, the Palace of Duques de Cadaval is separated from the Convent of Lóios by the patio of the restaurant Jardim do Paço, flanked by two battlemented towers.
Its current facade was refurbished in the 17th century, after being created in 1390. It was donated to Martim Afonso de Melo, Governor of Évora, by king João I. Kings João II and João V lived in there later.
One of its two towers has a pentagonal shape and was part of the city walls.
Nowadays there is still an area of the palace belonging to the Melo family.
