The Museu Quinta Das Cruzes Museum is set up in this quinta (farm) of the 17th century, Baroque in-style, in the Island of Madeira.
This quinta (farm) hosts today a decorative art museum where you can see a large exhibition of Portuguese and foreigner furniture from the 16th to the 19th centuries; china from the East India Company, Europe and Portugal; Indo-Portuguese ivories; Flemish and Portuguese sculptures; creches, as well as paintings and carvings.
The house is surrounded by a beautiful botanic garden where araucarias, dragon trees and kapok trees grow. Its greenhouse hosts orchids and a great number of flowers. A part of the garden has been transformed into an archeological park showing two Manueline windows and a fragment of the Funchal’s pillory dating from the 15th century.
