The sunset is one of the most wonderful moments of the day to visit Ponta do Sol, because it offers the chance to enjoy wonderful views while you having a quiet walk in the port.
The stone paved streets go up to a church, with its old baptismal font made of green ceramic, donated by D. Manuel I, and its ancient wooden roofs painted with scenes of the Virgin. Behind the church there is exhibited a council plaque remembering the visit of John dos Passos, American novelist whose grandparents emigrated from this village in the middle of the 19th century.
