The Museu da Baleia (Whale Museum) is set up in the offices of the old whaling company of Caniçal, in Madeira.
This museum explains the modernization from the old whale fishing to conservatism through an interesting exhibition, dealing with the habits and migrations of sperm whales for the use of marine biologists who founded a reservation for maritime mammals in the coasts of Madeira.
This museum has a whaling ship, part of a sperm whale in fiber, glass cabinets with bones and whale’s tooth, as well as photographs and engravings of whales.
