If you decide to dive in Madeira, you will enjoy crystalline waters and, in the surroundings of the rocky isles, you will see a great variety of maritime species.
Among the great fishes, the majestic ray stands out. These gregarious fishes seem to known when are the divers coming so they can make an appearance. The black crabs, with a volcanic rock colour, and the sea anemones are also really common in Madeira seabed.
When you dive, if you are lucky, you can also see species such as the scorpionfish, which is reddish, and the pretty parrotfish, labeled this way because of its beak, which is used to pull up the shovels of the rocks.
If you want to scuba dive, in Madeira and Porto Santo are different centres and dive clubs. There you can organize immersions in different points of the archipelago, where you can get a CMAS certificate.
Well-trained and qualified supervisors organize courses and dives for all levels.
In Porto Santo, the most valuable zone is in the South of the Abrigo Port, where, since 2000, is sinked the Madeiran vessel which connected the the islands of Porto Santo and Madeira.
