Seixal, located between Porto Moniz and São Vicente, is an excellent place to stop if you are travelling through the highway of the Northern coast of Madeira. From here you can explore the rocky coast and have a walk in the dock to admire the big cliffs and waterfalls which are on both sides of this little village.

Near the port you can enjoy a relaxing bath in the Praia do Porto do Seixal Beach, a black sand beach of volcanic origin. Other bathing areas in this locality are the Praia da Laje Beach and the Piscinas Naturais do Seixal Natural Pools.

In this area an excellent wine is produced with the grapes of the little vines hanging from the cliffs. They are protected from the wind and the saltpetre with fern and heather fences. These grapes are used in the making of the dry wine of Madeira.

In the mouth of the Ribeira de Janela you will have a view of three isles. The biggest of the three has the shape of a janela (window) and it is the one which gave name to the river.

If you travel by the highway that connects São Vicente with Seixal, it is worthy to make a stop in the Miradouro do Véu da Noiva Overlook, since it offers a wonderful view of a big waterfall which flows into the sea from a terrifying cliff.
