Its houses are set up surrounding the church and its environment is very initing with good cafés, hotels and numerous shops.
The Capela de São Vicente Chapel lies on top of a rock in the mouth of the river.
800 metres south-east from the city lie Grutas de São Vicente Caves, with the Volcanism Centre. This caves offer an unexpected journey “to the centre of the Earth”, along a tour of 700 metres through lava, basalt and iron galleries, made up by the the volcano of Paúl da Serra more than 400,000 years ago.
If you are travelling the road which links São Vicente with Seixal it is worth making a stop at the Miradouro do Véu da Noiva Overlook, because it offers a beautiful view of the big waterfall which flows into the sea from a terrifying cliff.
