This gardened avenue is located on the centre of Lisbon and it has nearly 5 hectare. Besides being an wide grassed space, ideal for children to play, games and practicing other sports, this avenue even has some lounge areas with tables for playing cards and benches to rest.
The main element of this garden is its gigantic luminous fountain, a magnificent monument built during the dictatorship of Salazar in Portugal. This fountain was constructed to celebrate the supply of water to this area of the city. The sculptures you might find on and at the fountain were made by Maximiano Alves and Diogo de Macedo.
We recommend you to visit this fountain during the night in order to observe the unique effects of water and light.
