The Santa Justa Lift connects the Ouro Street to the Carmo Squarto near Bairro Alto, Lisbon.
This monument was built on the end of the XIX century by the engineer Raoul Ponsard, its inauguration happened in 1902 which was an historic moment for Lisbon’s inhabitants who saw this futuristic monument with great curiosity.
At the top of the lift there are some spiral staircases which lead to the viewpoint, with a terrace and a fantastic view over Lisbon.
This viewpoint is managed by Carris and, as well as the lift, requests a payment of 1,50 €.
If you wish you might obtain nearly the same view as from the top of the viewpoint without paying by accessing the top area of the lifts through the bridge linking to Carmo Convent.
This viewpoint is open everyday from 8.30 am to 8.30pm.
