The Fado Museum, located near the Santa Apolonia station, near the river, was inaugurated in 1998 and it has unique materials from singers, songwritters and other artists whose role was very important for the History of Fado.
The museum, more than exhibiting pieces, investigates the ethnic and cultural heritage converting to the essential goal of paying tribute to all of those who made fado what it is today.
Apart from the exhibited pieces, the museum has been organizing several temporary exhibitions, editions, seminaries and workshops, discographic presentations and others.
This space was already enlarged and renovated presenting now even better conditions for pieces’ installment as well as safety. This museum has been awarded by several entities.
